Graduation is planned and coordinated by the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations here at the University of Puget Sound so I am spending a lot of time working on this year's graduation activities. So far there have been several unique graduation requests, one graduate wants to propose to his girlfriend as she receives her diploma, another thinks that the horses should be involved in the processional, the list goes on and on. I'm also responsible for doing some research on the Class of 2008 to help prepare a brief for the President as he prepars his remarks for the graduating class. As part of that research I came acroos Beloit College's (Wisconsin) annual "mindset list" for each academic class and these were the most interesting from the Class of 2008 list.
- "Here's Johnny!" is a scary greeting from Jack Nicholson, not a warm welcome from Ed McMahon.
- Photographs have always been processed in an hour or less.
- Baby Jessica could be a classmate.
- The U.S. has always been a Prozac nation.
- There has always been a Comedy Channel.
- They have always been comfortable with gay characters on television.
- The government has always been proposing we go to Mars, and it has always been deemed to expensive.
- Computers have always suffered from viruses.
- We have always been mapping the human genome.
- AZT has always been used to treat AIDS.
- They have done most of their search for the right college online.

While there are always frustrating aspects about my job, I love that I get to work on a college campus! I learn new things every day from the work study students that I supervise. At the same time I can't even imagine what this list will look like by the time Olivia is old enough to go to college......
