I know I've been such a bad blogger lately. I'm having a love-hate relationship with Picasa. I feel in love with the free photo editing software a few months ago but now after I post pictures and then they disappear I am hating it.
We've been doing well but here's a little more of an update on each of us.
Mike has been working like crazy but that's nothing new. He's been in command for a little over 6 months now. I keep waiting for it to get easier, but new things seem to pop up constantly. I have come to absolutely hate the work "crackberry" that rings incessantly. I am amazed and inspired by his ability to live in the moment. When he's at work he's 100% at work, I know better than to call unless it's a real emergency. At the same time when he's at home playing with the kids he's 100% living in the moment. I am a multitasker to the core so I admire his ability to focus so intently on a single task. Mike admires my time management skills so I guess together we make a good team.
I am really enjoying my time with Peter while Olivia is at school. Peter and I are having fun and getting to know each other all over again. He's growing up and changing so very fast. I'm realizing now how slowly Olivia seemed to change. She would work her way up to a new skill, it would take her a few days to really master something. Peter seems to just master things so easily. I don't know if it's because Olivia was my first child and I watched her so closely and I'm just busier with Peter or if it's Sanfilippo syndrome. The last couple of weeks have been a little rough for me. We had such a great time on Olivia's Make A Wish Trip, but my heart has just been aching for Olivia lately. There were times when Olivia was in the hospital and she was in an incredible amount of pain. As a parent it was heartbreaking to see my child in such pain and to not be able to help her. At times she'd look at me with this look of confusion, her eyes were saying "why are we here mommy? why do I hurt so bad". I've seen that same look of confusion in her eyes lately. We'll be playing together and she sees Peter do something that she's not able to do or she tries to do something that she used to do but can't seem to figure out. She looks at me with that exact same look of confusion. It's devastating and I'm having a hard time with all of it.
Speaking of Olivia she seems to be doing really well in school. We are noticing that her attention span is increasing a bit. She also seems to be on a more regular sleep schedule, a good 7-9 hours at night and a 1-1.5 hour nap during the day. She enjoys going to school and it is touching to see how all of her classmates care for her and look out for her in their own way. Olivia was completely healthy during the 1st week of school but has had a cough ever since the 2nd week. She's been to the doctor a couple of times, her lungs sound good and she's otherwise healthy. She was isolated from everything for so long, it's just taking her immune system a bit longer to work through things.
Peter is growing into a little boy so quickly! He's talking more and more. He's eating with a fork and spoon now, he loves to color, and jump, and play with trucks. He's a busy boy, he goes non stop from the second he wakes up to the second he goes to sleep. He is fascinated by other kids, especially those who talk. I'm working on scheduling some more play dates so that he can be around other kids, or maybe joining a MOPS group (mothers of preschoolers).
Overall we're doing well, thanks for checking in and taking the time to read this. I promise more pictures in the next post!
