Fall Fun

I know that some areas of the country are covered in snow but we enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend here in New Orleans!

We Were There...

We were there when

• the Saints broke their record of the most points ever scored in a single game
• the Saints won by the biggest margin in franchise history
• Faith Hill was sitting at the game in a private box several floors below us
• the very first game ever was played in the newly branded Mercedes Benz Superdome

I'm a full week behind in this post (and the Saints didn't do so well tonight) but last week Mike and I used my friend's season tickets and their awesome parking pass and went to the Saints game. We had a blast! And Wow things have changed since the Saints won the Superbowl in 2009. Mike had season tickets when he was in college and we went to a few games then but this was a completely different experience! We forgot the camera but I did accidentally take this picture while I was trying to balance texting, cheering, drinking my beer, and spilling my popcorn.

A Great Match

After weeks of trying to find a part time nanny for Olivia we resorted to using www.sittercity.com. We were matched with a lovely woman, Nanny D (her name for the purposes of this blog). She and her 3 year old daughter pick up Olivia from school every day and they play together until we get home from work. Nanny D has been amazing and I think she's a great match for our family! I love the afternoon picture text messages that she sends of Olivia playing when she gets home from school. Nanny D watched both Olivia and Peter one evening this past week so that Mike and I could attend Open House at Olivia's School. I was delighted to come home and discover this:





I know first hand how difficult it is to do art projects with the kids, especially with Olivia, and especially those involving paint. I am so touched that she took the time to do such a fun and interactive activity with the kids. I'll treasure their little ghost feet, pumpkin fists, and bat hands forever!

Pumpkin Pickin'

We were absolutely spoiled by the pumpkin patches in the Pacific Northwest. We searched for a pumpkin patch and thought we found one in a small farming town about 30 minutes away. We met up with Mike's brother and his family and our adorable Goddaughter, Miss Sophie Jaye. The website promised a tractor ride but instead of the cozy hayride we were expecting they crammed about 100 people standing up onto a trailor attached to a tractor for a 1 mile ride into the "pumpkin field". The farmer announced that it wasn't possible to grow pumpkins in southeastern Louisiana so he imported pumpkins from New Mexico and then lined them up in the field. Yep, you read that right, the man ordered pumpkins from New Mexico (complete with the Made in New Mexico stickers) and then lined them up all over his field. Crazy! As disappointing as the pumpkin patch was the company made up for it!
