Girls who wear glasses

We had a long day today. It's such a good thing that Peter didn't have to spend all day waiting with us in the hospital. It's a huge relief to know that he's happy and well taken care of with my parents. Today started off with an eye exam for Olivia at 9 am. She's had her eyes checked once before. Around the time she turned 2 they were doing some other procedures and they checked her eyes while she was sedated. Of course they couldn't actually check her vision but they could tell that the eye was structurally sound. Today's eye appointment was challenging for us as parents. They had Olivia identify several pictures by pointing to them on a piece of paper. She speed through them with flying colors and even properly identified a christmas tree. The next step was for Olivia to see the same pictures on a tv screen and then properly identify them, either verbally or by pointing to the matching image on her little sheet. Of course they started with the larger objects and Olivia was responding nicely but then just as they started to move to using smaller pictures of the same objects Olivia began to loose interest. She just didn't care any more. It was frustrating for Mike and I because we are trying to encourage her but at the same time we want an accurate result. We don't know if she's really just bored or if she can't see the objects. They said they got a good idea and moved onto the objective portion of the eye exam. Apparently Olivia has astigmitism and she needs glasses. I am sure that I'll regret saying this but I think that little kids who wear glasses are just so adorable. We didn't have time today but hopefully we'll be able to pick some frames out tomorrow.
At 11 am we had to report for Olivia's CT scan and EEG. We arrived right on time only to wait, and wait, and wait. Olivia was sedated for today's exams so she couldn't have anything to eat or drink. She had a bedtime snack yesterday around 8pm and then some water this morning but that was it. By the time they finally came to get her around 1:30 she was tired and hungary. Things went well today, the tests were both completed (hopefully we'll find out the results on Tuesday). Olivia woke up happy and we were finally able to leave the hospital around 5:30.
